How to Avoid Getting Insta-Scammed on Instagram
How to Avoid Getting Insta-Scammed on Instagram How to Avoid Getting Insta-Scammed on Instagram How to Avoid Getting Insta-Scammed on InstagramWhen cruising the gram for cute dog pics and great looks, make sure you watch out for stock photos or questionable giveawaysâ"and never give out your personal info or location data. How many Instagram followers do you have? Are you an official Influencer? Or are you just there to see some adorable dogs? Or delicious meals? Or⦠cutetastic⦠makeup tutorials? But among all that good stuff on the gram, thereâs something not so good: scammers! Yes, as with every new form of communication or interaction since the sending of the first smoke signal, if people can talk with it, scammers will try to scam with it.So weâre here to keep you safe while youâre looking at those gorgeous landscapes and cool graffiti portraits. Donât take that face at face value. As the old saying goes, âon the internet, nobody knows youâre a dog.â Similarly, that profile picture may not belong to the person who created the account. Whether itâs a celebr ity or a stock photo, there are many people using Instagram with a face thatâs not their own. And some of those people will be trying to scam you.âInvestigate profiles,â advised Justin Lavelle, Chief Communications Officer for BeenVerified.com (@BeenVerified). âScammers often have poorly made profiles. If you suspect a person may not be who he/she is claiming, do a little investigating. How many followers does this person have? A major red flag for a fake account is a following list significantly higher than the number of followers. Does he/she have a plethora of seemingly-legit photos, or does he/she only have a handful of what looks like stock photos? You can validate a photoâs authenticity via Google Image search. Are they claiming to be a well-known brand or person without a Verification Badge? Some scammer accounts are obvious; others are impossible to tell. Trust your instincts.âWatch out for fake giveaways.Beyond looking for the Verification Badge, you should be i mmediately suspicious if a company or brandâs account name isnât just the name of that company or brand.âIf you see an account that has a company name (that may look official) plus âgiveawayâ as the account handle, itâs likely fake,â warned Holly Zink, social media expert for Digital Addicts (@digitaladdicts_). âIf a real company does have a sweepstake or giveaway, it will be done through their verified account.âOppLoans giveaways, for example, will always be through the official OppLoans Twitter, or Facebook accounts, with the terms and conditions outlined in a blog post on our site.Be careful with those personal details.Parents used to warn kids to never give out any information on the internet. Now parents put pictures of their children all over Facebook and Instagram. But you should still be careful of just how much you share.âChange personal information on your account,â suggested Lavelle. âAvoid providing your full name, birthday, and home address. Sca mmers only need a few pieces of your personal details to search for your other social media accounts and gather more and more information about you. Use nicknames and bios without too much revealing information. Consider setting your account to private. While this may slow down follower growth (and if that will affect your business/brand, skip this step), you can manage who sees your content.âZink backed Lavelleâs call for caution: âNo matter how enticing an Instagram offer may sound, never provide anyone with your personal information. Just like on other social media platforms, you donât know if the person or business is who they claim to be.âAnd more specificallyâ¦Donât share specific location data. When it comes to personal information, you definitely do not want to share your exact location.âAvoid giving out information on exact whereabouts,â Lavelle told us. âThis may seem like a no-brainer, but many people forget this Instagram safety step, especially when go ing on vacation. Not only does sharing exact whereabouts put your safety at risk, but also it announces, âHey, Iâm not home right nowrobberies are welcome!âFurthermore, hashtags can give scammers personal information without you realizing it. For an example, if a person took a picture of himself/herself in an office and tags it with â#work,â â#microsoft,â and â#Bellevue,â anyone can determine when, where, and what this person works.âBe on the lookout for phishing scams.Weâve warned you about phishing scams via email, but someone may also try to snag you via an Instagram DM. In general, you should probably ignore DMs on Instagram unless youâre absolutely sure of who theyâre coming from. And even then, you should be extremely wary about clicking a link thatâs sent to you unless youâre beyond certain that you know what it is.Because scammers will try to send you a link that looks like the link to a legitimate site but may have a similar looking character s wapped out for the real one. Even just clicking a phishing link could mess up your device, but you may also be prompted to enter your password information. Hopefully, we donât have to tell you not to do that, but just in case: DO NOT DO THAT!If you need to log in, just re-enter the actual site or close the app and open it again from your device so you can be certain youâre going to the right place before entering any information.Keep these tips in mind and you can safely peruse all the kitties and donuts you want without fear!To learn more about protecting yourself from scammers, check out these related posts and articles from OppLoans:Dating App Dangers: 7 Tips to Avoid Getting Scammed by a Fake Romance4 Common Home Contractor Scams and How to Avoid ThemDonât Let Fake Debt Collectors Scam You Out of Money You Donât OweHas someone ever tried to scam you through Instagram or another social media channel? Beauty Definition Essay - 1411 Words
Beauty The ways people view beauty have changed over time. Beauty has many definitions, and so many people think about it in different ways. Some people like external beauty and some like internal beauty and many people like both together. Beauty controls how people live and think, but it depends on which definition of beauty they choose to believe in. We live in a world that misunderstands the true meanings of pretty much everything. Thousands of years ago people knew and understood what the true meaning of beauty is. They did not care about looks and clothes. So why is it difficult for us today to look deeply and closely into what beauty and other things mean? Everybody should not think of beauty as either a six-letter word or aâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Having a beautiful soul is also a very important quality of beauty. Beauty is skin deep. It is also about being true to you and to the people around. People can express beauty through giving and not expecting anything good back . For instance, the beauty of a relationship is to love, respect, and do nice things without even expecting a thank you or a gift back. I had a girl in my class she was very beautiful and dresses very nice. She thought that using her external beauty would help her pass all of her classes by tricking boys into doing her homework for her. Until one day the boys figured out that she was using them. They saw her internal ugliness instead of her external beauty, and they all left her. She learned her lesson and changed to having inner beauty. External beauty does not live with people for the rest of their lives, it eventually fades away. When people turn 70 years of age and look in the mirror and see the wrinkles on their faces, they realize that this is not true beauty whereas internal beauty lasts for a lifetime. It does not fade away. In fact, it lives even after death. It lives through their loved ones when they remember the kindness and beautifulness that those people had before the y have died. Another significant factor is that a lot of people misconstrue the main idea of happiness. Most of them do not know how to be happy. Some people do wrong things and sometimes harm others because they think this is the only way that they will be happy.Show MoreRelatedThe Definition of Beauty Essay905 Words à |à 4 PagesSynthesis Essay #2 The definition of beauty is a characteristic of a person, animal, place, object, or idea that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure, meaning, or satisfaction. As the information shared from the HR assistant manager, the staff turn over of year 2011 was 13. 1%, it is higher than the average hotel staff turn over rate which is 10% in Shanghai (Fang Xu, 2010). For example, the 80RMB of parking fee is a big guest complains in this company and it happens almost everyday. Three separated buildings are a weak point because it is very complicated for the guests to find the direction. The service quality is a frequent criticism object from customers. The external part is focused on the financial environment and competitors. Shanghai attracts 215 million domestic tourists and 8. 5 million foreign tourists in 2010. In addition, tourism revenue of Shanghai in 2010 is 305. 3 billion RMB (Shanghai tourist development report, 2012). The company has a lot of opportunities and it is a great time, but also it is facing with various challenges. Table 1. Chapter 2. Project Exploration During a period of 10 months, it turned out that it apparently it was difficult for employees to finish their tasks within the required time resulting in having to work over time. In hotel operation departments, there are three shifts, in general, morning shift staffs working from 7am till 3pm, the afternoon shift from 3pm till 11pm, and the rest hours are evening shift. However, most of the employees in Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao will spend quite long time in the shift turnover period, and it leads directly to work overtime in everyday and in every department. Furthermore, these over hours will not be counted into paid overtime working. Front office is not the only department, but it apparently most frequently in the company. Especially in front desk department, since 2011 November till 2012 September there were 5 employees quitted their job who had worked there over one year and 9 trainees had not worked over 6 months which means they quit before they became a formal staff. It be seen through the first two sentences written in the introductory chapter that working overtime is very normal in China and the reality shows it is a truth in Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao. This project is trying to identify the relationship between working overtime and job satisfaction, and enhance to give the managers of Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao a further consideration of monitoring overtime working and improving employee satisfaction. Meanwhile, job satisfaction is a source of long-term competitive advantage in the hospitality industry, by the core values of Hilton Worldwide which is described as Hospitality, Integrity, Leadership, Teamwork, Ownership and Now, each values have a strong connection with job satisfaction. For the Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao, this management project could be a helpful way to get more involved into employee satisfaction and measuring overtime working as well. Chapter 3. Furthermore, the job satisfaction of different genders, the importance of job satisfaction and the relationship between job satisfaction and overtime working will be reviewed in the last paragraph. Last but not least a conceptual model covers the main point which includes the literature review. 3. 1 Working overtime In this part, the definition of working overtime is given, and some figures of overtime hours in different countries and a table of standard and maximum working hours for comparison. Working overtime is normally approved in advance by the Head of Department and is agreed in order to complete work for a deadline or to meet additional demands. However, the initial periods of less than half an hour are not classified as work overtime. Additional hours or overtime will not qualify for payments until the member of staff has worked to their number of basic contractual weekly hours (Working additional hours and overtime, 2011). Pascal and Damien (2000) found that about 20% of European employees work 45 or more hours a week, and about 13% of the full-time employeeââ¬â¢s weekly work over 50 hours. Long work hours are also a common phenomenon in the United States: more than 1/4 of US men and 11% of women work more than 50 hours a week (Jacobs ; Gerson, 2004). In addition, extreme overtime work is pervasive in Korea and Japan where many employees work more than 60 hours a week (Amagasa, Nakayama, ; Takahashi, 2005). A reach showed that there are only 13. 7 percent worked for no more than eight hours a day in China, 40. 3% worked eight to nine hours, 23. 48 percent put in nine to 10 hours a day and 22. 0 percent worked more than 10 hours (Xinhua News Agency, 2006). In generally overtime work is a common phenomenon in both Asian and Western countries. Working overtime also occurs in developed countries both in Asia and Western. Are Intake Processes in Juvenile Justice Systems Really Fair essays
Are Intake Processes in Juvenile Justice Systems Really Fair essays The many valid - and even disturbing - questions surrounding fairness issues in the processing (arrest, intake screening, assignment to incarceration) of juveniles into the criminal justice system in America are not new questions; indeed, they have been raised for a number of years. First, the disproportionate number of minorities locked up in juvenile justice systems is a glaring issue which has not really been addressed adequately since the U. S. Department of Justice, under Attorney General Janet Reno, issued a highly critical report in the year 2000; and secondly, in conducting research, one finds an abundance of statistics on the number of juveniles in trouble but little information about the screening process per se. These are issues which need to be addressed, in particular, if one believes the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) statistics that show that the number of "child delinquents" (ages 7 to 12) in juvenile courts has increased 33% in the past ten years (OJJPD, 2003), and arrests for "violent crime" among that same group has risen by 45%. Given this shocking dimension to the problem of youthful offenses, the emphasis, sadly, is likely going to be on prevention and punishment measures rather than fairness and justice with regard to intake Race: Chances of incarceration are far greater if you're a Black kid Between the years 1985 and 1994, delinquency cases brought through the Juvenile Justice System (JJS) increased by 41%; but more disturbing is the fact that in that time period, delinquency cases involving blacks jumped 78% and cases involving other non-white youths skyrocketed by 94% (Lardiero, 1997). Another key fact illustrating the institutiona...

Everybody is a Native Speaker, Nobody is a Native Writer
Everybody is a Native Speaker, Nobody is a Native Writer Everybody is a Native Speaker, Nobody is a Native Writer Everybody is a Native Speaker, Nobody is a Native Writer By Michael Does writing English cause you pain? Maybe thats because youre not a native writer of English. But then, none of us is a native writer of anything. We all learned to talk before we could write. Linguists say that, in a real sense, written English is a different language than spoken English. Thats true of every language. Writing down your words changes what youre saying. For one thing, your tone of voice disappears. Written letters and characters may not correspond directly to the sounds of speech (especially true of English, unfortunately). Readers are less tolerant of missing or added words than listeners. A speech may make sense to the original audience members and even move their hearts, but the initial transcript may seem shockingly illiterate and even incomprehensible: And the reason you know not that I would recommend no, Im serious When students have trouble learning a foreign language, its often because their teachers treat the written language as primary, when actually the spoken language is primary. Chinese was considered a forbidding language for Westerners (all those characters!) until people such as Henry C. Fenn and Gardner M. Tewksbury at Yales Institute of Far Eastern Languages had the brilliant idea of teaching their students to speak Chinese before teaching them to write it. From personal experience, I can testify that they were right. To me, Chinese is simpler and more sensible than many other languages, especially I never had to learn to write it. (I still have problems with pronouncing tones, which change the meaning. But all Westerners do.) What prompted my thinking about writing vs. speaking was a question from a reader named Linda, who read my article The Yiddish Handbook: 40 Words You Should Know, and asked, If a Jewish person was singing, what language would they sing in: Hebrew or Yiddish? I sort of thought that Hebrew was the written language, but Yiddish was the spoken language of the Jewish people but I dont really know. Thank you! I answered: They usually sing in their native language most Jews arent fluent in either Hebrew or Yiddish. But Hebrew is the official language of the state of Israel, and Yiddish is the common language of the haredi, commonly called the ultra-Orthodox. So there are popular Jewish songs in both languages. Of course, Hebrew is the language of religion, and was often considered fancier or more formal than Yiddish, so it might be used for certificates and so on. Chants and prayers during worship are in Hebrew, and Yiddish is written in the Hebrew alphabet, but Eastern European Jewish folk songs and klezmer songs usually have Yiddish titles or lyrics. Hebrew is an example of a religious language that is read more than it is spoken. In my experience, many young Jewish people learn Hebrew only well enough to read it (often shakily) for their bar mitzvah ceremony. In Eastern Europe churches, Slavic Orthodox worshippers use the Church Slavonic language, but they dont speak it outside church. Language acquisition expert Tom Brewster told me that conservative Protestant Christians are able to understand the 1611 King James Bible only because theyve become partially bilingual in Elizabethan English. Im told that citizens of Greece can understand the first century Greek Bible about as well. Just as Muslims pray in Arabic without necessarily speaking it, for centuries Roman Catholics prayed in Latin. At first the language of the church service was simply a formal version of the Vulgar Latin (sermo vulgaris, folk speech) spoken in Europe. But over the centuries, as Vulgar Latin evolved into languages such as Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, Romanian, Catalan and Romansh, Catholic worshippers understood less and less of what the priest was saying. In the 1960s the Vatican began to allow the Mass to be said in local languages. Writing coaches often urge their students, Write the way you talk, and thats good advice. Your writing can be friendly and conversational, just as your speaking is. Aim to be understood, not to impress, in both your writing and speaking. But understand that written English and spoken English are two slightly different languages. When you write them down, your words can become even more expressive and precise than if you spoke them.
